Self-Diagnostic of server:
1. Resolving Outlook™ Express errors:
1a. If using Outlook express or similar program try checking settings off and back on again, this sometimes resolves issues.
If that fails to resolve the issue, try:
1.b. Remove the email account from Outlook express or similar program, Then set it up again using Standard settings
incoming pop3 mail.yourwebsitename.com
outgoing smtp mail.yourwebsitename.com
incoming pop3 server Port 110
outgoing smtp server Port 25
My Server requires authentication ticked YES!
Log On using secure password authentication ticked NO!
2. Can your ISP actually reach our mail servers?
2a. To confirm that the mail server is online and responding you can perform the following:
Windows Operating System:
From the 'Start' button click 'Run'
Type in 'telnet yourdomain.com 25'
You should receive something to the effect of:
220-servername.domain.com ESMTP Exim 3.35 #1 [Date & Time]
220-We do not authorize the use of this system to transport unsolicited,
220 and/or bulk e-mail.
This confirms there are *no problems* with the SMTP server
2b. To confirm the POP server is online and responding:
From the 'Start' button click 'Run'
Type in 'telnet yourdomain.com 110'
You should receive something to the effect of:
+OK POP3 [cppop 9.9] at [66.197.198.81] (yourdomain.com)
This confirms the POP server is online and there are *no problems* with the POP server.
2c. In some instances changing your outgoing smtp server port to 26 from 25 resolves some sending issues.
In Outlook™ express go to Tools / Accounts / Properties / Advanced
In Microsoft Entourage™. go to Mail & New Preferences / Proxies
change or set the Outgoing smtp port number from 25 to 26
Retry now.
3. Try changing your incoming pop3 server, smtp outgoing mail server settings or both to use your local ISP's routing.
In Outlook™ Express or go to Tools / Accounts / Properties ( of the email account your having the issue with ) / Servers
Using Microsoft Entourage™, go to Tools / Accounts / Mail / click Edit.
change the incoming (POP) or outgoing (SMTP) mail server name
from mail.yourdomain.com
to
mail.yourisp.com ( find out the setting from your Internet Service Provider)
4. Access your email over the Internet
http://www.yourwebsite.com/webmail
Login: username@yourwebsite.com (this is your full email address)
Password: The password of this email account.
Then, click an email provider, such as Horde
Still Unsuccessful, please email support with full details of problem including email account username and a password so our support staff can test the account for you.
